Carlton Talley

Meet Carlton Talley our third and final Bastrop Juneteenth Celebration Scholarship recipient for 2022.

Carlton's plan for the future is to further his education at Central Texas College in Killeen, Texas and to then transfer to McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas to get his degree in Radiology. His short-term goal is to become an X-ray technician and long-term is to become a Radiologist.

Carlton's educational and career interest developed when he first joined the athletic trainer program at CCHS. He fell in love with the medical field and ever since he's wanted to be a part of it in some way.

Carlton says "Accomplishing this goal has been a little tricky for me, because I'm deaf. I had to be very selective choosing a medical field that I felt I could be successful in."

Carlton participated in basketball, track, baseball and was a member of the National Honor Society during high school.

He says both of his parents did not allow him to be hung up on the fact that he is deaf, and he will not let being deaf stop him from reaching his goals.

Congratulations Carlton!
